Over the past 20 years, the CosMedic Clinic at our university dermatology center in Toronto, Canada has helped thousands of men and women cope with the physical, psychological and emotional impact of chronic skin disorders, burns and scarring through the use of corrective makeup. Having established the CosMedic Clinic more than two decades ago, I must say that providing camouflage makeup to patients in a clinical setting has been the most satisfying part of my career. Finding cosmetics suitable to the needs of patients with a range of skin diseases became an unending source of frustration as we evaluated the utility and deficiencies of commercially available products.

Despite advances in technology, we were frustrated that a single colour would not work for every client and many patients with highly compromised skin, such as those with rosacea, could not tolerate the existing products. After 15 years of trial and error, we felt there was no alternative but to develop a specialized line of corrective cosmetics. Combining the experience of our corrective makeup specialist, Lee Graff, with my clinical expertise and the technical knowledge of Jenny Frankel, a chemical engineer with 10 years of cosmetic formulation experience, we developed the COVER FX line of premium corrective cosmetics. COVER FX was tested in our Clinic on more than 1500 rosacea patients to perfect the irritant- free formula.

The total coverage offered by COVER FX has also produced tremendous results for patients with eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, rosacea and actinic damage, as well as port wine stains, burns and scars, to name just a few of its uses. Available in over 30 shades, COVER FX can be successfully matched to any skin tone to provide a totally natural look. Initially available only through the hospital' s out-patient pharmacy, the demand for COVER FX created the need for broader commercial distribution. It is currently distributed in over 350 pharmacies across Canada and over 40 Nordstrom locations across the USA.

I am now pleased to announce that COVER FX will be available in London, England through Harvey Nichols specialty stores with the first locations being launched in June, 2006.
